Water Resources and Water Quality: CRS Experts
Betsy A. Cody
Specialist in Natural Resources Policy
Mary Tiemann
Specialist in Environmental Policy
The federal role in water resource management and water quality is varied and involves many different congressional committees, federal departments, and agencies. Consequently, there are many overlaps in coverage of major policy issues and related statutes (e.g., Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, Water Resources Development Act, and Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act). This table provides access to names and contact information for CRS experts on major water quality and water resource policy issues facing the Congress. Broad policy areas include federal financing; water quality; water resource development, management, and use; aquatic resources management and protection; water rights and compacts; water security; and the water-energy nexus.
